The Wilderness and Disaster Medicine Society (WDMS) is a student-run organization at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC). Thanks to the support from our Wilderness Medicine advisor Dr. Lara Phillips, we are excited to host the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Student Wilderness Medicine Conference!
The first MASWMC conference was held in 2010 under the guidance of Dr. Liz Edelstein, and it was a huge success in drawing students from all over the country to learn about wilderness medicine. Students in WDMS at SKMC continue to host this conference biennially, owing to ongoing support from the faculty and staff at Thomas Jefferson University. The conference took a pause during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and 2023 was our first time returning to the MASWMC tradition.
Now in 2025, we are extremely excited to continue having the opportunity to promote wilderness and disaster medicine. We believe this work provides the critical skill-set needed to adapt to our ever-changing world and improve access to life-saving medicine, and we are excited to bring together individuals who are passionate about this. The 2025 MASWMC will be held on October 11th-12th, 2025. We hope to see you there!
